Apple's Fiasco

What seem like a technology revolution turn out to be an embarrassment for Apple's Inc. I was amazed to learn that the iphone 4 antenna was built outside and not the usual place where it should. I was totally taken away by iphone 4.

But,

this morning, Steve Job's went on to the stage to explain the issue revolving Iphone 4. He confirmed that Apple knew from the beginning that their antenna will caused a drop in the signal. In another word, it is not really the software error that miscalculated the signal bar as claimed earlier.

Effectively this mean that Apple has wanted to "cheat" us. Hasn't been the mounting pressure and negative news surrounding iphone 4, i doubt Apple will want to come clean with us. Now he is claiming that this is a common problem among the smartphone.

Yes, we all know that there is no perfect phone and we didn't expect iphone to be perfect in the first place. But what is intriguing is, Apple took such a long time to come clean with the consumers. As a fan of Steve Job, i am upset. As a user, i wonder if my next purchase will still be Apple.

Apple must know this, there will be people buying Apple product for the first time but that could well be their last time too. If Apple is going to captivate consumer with product that has poor reception, poor battery life (as with their 3GS) then clearly, iphone will be a thing of past in a matter of 3years. There is only one iphone against the many models in the market. What iphone can do, doesnt' mean that other phone couldn't in the future.

In a nutshell, despite the recent negative publicity surrounding Apple. I believe Apple still has an upper hand in the smartphone market but it all boils down to how their competitors is going to react and it must be fast.
